‘High on shrooms’: Rescuers of ‘injured skier’ discover situation not quite as it seemed

A call for help related to a skiing injury reported in the area of Summit County’s Cucumber Gulch took a bit of a turn in recent days, with the search and rescue team that arrived to assist quickly finding that things weren’t quite what they seemed.

According to the Summit County Sheriff’s Office, a woman had called for help when her boyfriend fell and injured his leg while the two were backcountry skiing. Summit Rescue Group responded, locating the couple and assisting them in their return to the trailhead.

Soon, however, a bit of investigation revealed that the man was not actually injured at all. Instead, it was determined that the woman had called for help while under the influence of psychedelic mushrooms and other drugs, resulting in her confusion about the situation…
