State returning $8 million to Coloradans with unclaimed property

DENVER ( KDVR ) — The State of Colorado is returning millions of dollars in unclaimed property to residents.

On Tuesday, Colorado State Treasurer Dave Young said the state is proactively returning $8 million in unclaimed property in a program known as the Great Colorado Payback . More than 12,000 claims have already been preapproved.

These items were valued at $400K on Denver episode of ‘Antiques Roadshow’

Since the program’s launch in 1987, $765 million has been returned.

“Each year, companies transfer millions in assets to the Colorado Department of the Treasury when they cannot locate the original owners, including individuals, companies, nonprofit organizations, schools, and other entities,” said the Colorado Department of the Treasury in a press release…
