Popular local Mexican restaurant opens new location in Denver

DENVER ( KDVR ) — A local Mexican restaurant, Los Dos Potrillos , is expanding across the metro with its newest location in Denver.

Before the Mexican restaurant became a metro franchise, it started with 13-year-old Jose Ramirez bagging groceries in a Highlands neighborhood store, according to Los Dos Potrillos’ website.

From there, he worked tirelessly serving at Las Palmas before he saved up enough money to open his first restaurant. The first Los Dos Potrillos opened in Centennial in 2002, with Ramirez having only $5.18 left in his bank account.

Now, after over 20 years in the restaurant business, there are five locations across the metro and even a food truck — and soon, there will be another eatery in Denver.

The Mexican restaurant announced on its social media that its sixth location in Denver will be officially opening on April 15 in the former Hacienda building just off South Colorado Boulevard in the Virginia Village neighborhood…
