DENVER (KDVR) — Active weather is possible Sunday in the Denver weather forecast, especially over the northeastern plains of Colorado. Spotty afternoon thunderstorms are expected, some of which may be strong-to-severe in northeastern Colorado, especially.
The Storm Prediction Center has placed far northeast Colorado in a level 3 of 5 risk for severe storms on Sunday afternoon. Although metro Denver may see some showers or thunderstorms, severe weather is not expected along the I-25 corridor.
Weather tonight: Partly cloudy and pleasant
Saturday night sees partly cloudy skies with dry conditions. Temperatures will be near seasonal values in the middle 40s. Winds will come from other southeast around 5-15 miles per hour. Overall, it will be a pleasant night.
Weather tomorrow: Afternoon storms possible
Temperatures on Saturday will be in the lower to middle 70s with partly sunny skies. Cloud cover is important tomorrow; if it stays somewhat cloudy to begin the day, the severe weather risk will be lower. However, if there’s plenty of sunshine, then stronger storms will be possible. Expect storms to begin forming in the early afternoon and push eastward, where they could then become severe in the late afternoon into the early evening. Otherwise, it’ll be another breezy day.
Looking ahead: Quiet weather in the next week
Temperatures cool into the 60s to start next week with a slight chance for a stray shower Monday, but mostly dry conditions are generally forecast. Winds stay noticeably breezy through at least Tuesday.
Temperatures warm into the middle 70s on Wednesday with clear skies. 80-degree temperatures will be back starting Thursday and heading into next weekend…
