Several shelter dogs displaced, brought to Colorado after severe weather in the South

DENVER (KDVR) — Humane Colorado has eight new dogs in their care after they were transferred from a shelter in Kentucky that was destroyed after a severe storm.

The shelter, Hopkins Humane Society in Madison, Kentucky had major flooding and even their roof torn off during the storm, leaving shelter staff scrambling to place pets.

Humane Colorado said they heard about what had happened and decided to help. They teamed up with the ASPCA to get the dogs on a transport and brought to Colorado.

“We were lucky we partnered with the ASPCA and the Humane Society of the Pikes Peak Region to help with the eight dogs,” Jes Cytron, Director of Shelter Behavior and Vet Services at Humane Colorado said. “The eight that were left they weren’t able to place.”…
