CSP vehicle, highway worker hit by suspected DUI driver while working 6-car crash

DENVER (KDVR) — A Colorado State Patrol trooper’s vehicle and a highway worker were hit early Sunday morning by a suspected under-the-influence driver while the trooper was responding to an earlier six-vehicle crash, according to CSP.

The trooper and a Colorado Department of Transportation contract worker were on U.S. 36 near Pecos Street, assisting with a six-vehicle crash that had injured three people just before midnight Saturday night, according to CSP and Adams County Fire. At around 2 a.m., a black 2011 Toyota Camry struck the rear of the CSP vehicle, causing it to pin the highway contract worker.

After the crash, the Camry continued driving east on U.S. 36 until a second CSP trooper performed a TVI maneuver to stop it from fleeing, according to CSP…
