Aurora police warn possible participants of Town Center ‘takeover’: ‘Expect to be arrested’

DENVER (KDVR) — Aurora police are responding to rumors of juveniles planning a “takeover” at the Town Center this weekend, telling possible participants to expect repercussions if the event is held.

It’s all part of the ongoing trend of juveniles going to public locations and fighting each other, among other chaotic actions. On June 28, the Denver Zoo Conservation Alliance closed early after rumors of such an event.

Due to a large police presence at City Park, the takeover did not take place as planned.

However, teens were injured during a takeover at The Shops At Northfields as approximately 300 juveniles converged on the area, entered businesses and engaged in fights and other disturbances. The news of these proposed takeovers is shared through social media and flyers, but has landed juveniles in the hospital…
