More than 70 horses rescued from rural Colorado property

FRANKTOWN, Colo. (KKTV) – Dozens of horses and foals were rescued from a property in rural Colorado early last month, according to Humane Colorado.

Humane Colorado said those with the nonprofit were part of an effort to provide shelter and care for more than 70 horses who were removed from what appeared to be a situation of severe neglect in an undisclosed rural area of the state in early July.

According to those with the organization, it appeared the horses had been living with an insufficient amount of food, lack of access to veterinary care, and overgrown hooves to the point where many appeared to be unable to walk without being in pain.
