Popular Colorado Mexican restaurant opens location in Denver

DENVER (KDVR) — A popular Mexican restaurant serving traditional Oaxacan cuisine has been opening locations across the metro, and now, there’s finally one in Denver.

Teocalli Cocina has slowly become a Colorado franchise. The restaurant serves Mexican food inspired by different regions of Mexico with locations in Lafayette, Arvada and Longmont, and it just opened another spot in the Highland neighborhood.

The restaurant opened in late July on 1575 Boulder Street, right next to Little Man Ice Cream and Linger, serving Oaxacan cuisine with anything from Tijuana Birria tacos to Oaxaca enchiladas.

“Denver—we’re here and ready to serve you the best Oaxacan cuisine in town. You’ll find us holding it down on the corner at 1575 Boulder St. LoHi, baby,” the restaurant said on its Facebook.

The restaurant said the head chef, Julio Gaspar, has been cooking since his childhood in Puerto Escondido, Oaxaca, where he worked at his family’s restaurant. He cooked the catch of the day out of the ocean, and now, he’s in the Mile High City making his traditional Mexican food…
