DENVER — Brian Cotter, owner of Davis Mortuary in Pueblo and the Pueblo County coroner, was served a suspension notice this week after state inspectors discovered decomposing bodies hidden behind a cardboard display in his mortuary, marking the latest funeral home scandal in Colorado.
The discovery occurred when inspectors, reviewing the funeral home under a new law requiring annual inspections, noticed a door concealed by the cardboard display. According to the suspension notice, Cotter asked the inspectors not to enter the room, and when they did, they found several bodies in various stages of decomposition.
