Man dead after police shooting in Denver

DENVER (KDVR) — A man is dead after he was shot by a pair of Denver police officers early Friday morning in the area of the 3200 block of South Parker Road.

Denver Police Department Chief Ron Thomas, in a press conference early Friday morning, said the officer’s opened fire on the man after he approached them with a knife. DPD first posted about the incident at 2:47 a.m.

Thomas said the officer’s were responding to a burglary call when they identified there was an individual inside of a shed or storage facility and ordered him to come out, at which time a man came out with what appeared to be a large knife.

The man initally complied with an order to put the knife down, but then “reacquired” the knife and advance at the officer’s, at which time they fired at him, according to Thomas…
