The encounter, which took place at the 10th and Osage station, involved an elderly woman who, after a brief conversation, demanded the individual’s phone number, handed out pamphlets, and invited them to a Sunday service. The woman even went as far as to say, “If you don’t come, I know where you work”. The individual was not intimidated but found the approach inappropriate and off-putting. After researching SGI Buddhism, they found that the organization had been excommunicated from Nichiren Buddhism and expressed concerns about it potentially being a cult.
