Xcel’s regulator wants to hear your experiences from this week’s power shutoffs

DENVER — The Colorado Public Utilities Commission (PUC) is collecting stories and experiences from Xcel Energy customers following this week’s intentional power shutoffs during a high wind event.

The commission set up a website where customers can take a survey and leave comments. The comment section already is six pages long. A spokeswoman for the regulator said as of 11:30 a.m. Sunday, 1,094 people had responded to the survey.

“Incompetence on steroids,” wrote one customer, who shared screenshots of text messages and emails they received showing four messages received in 40 minutes with conflicting information about whether their power was out or restored…
