Video shows fire being lit behind Denver flower, gift shop

DENVER (KDVR) — A Denver business was forced to temporarily relocate this week after a man set a fire behind its building, damaging electrical equipment and sending smoke into the store, according to the owners.

Surveillance video captured on Wednesday shows a man setting cardboard boxes on fire and walking away, behind Chroma Denver, a gift shop located at 472 N. Broadway. The flames spread to the building’s electrical equipment and traveled across a power line, knocking out electricity and forcing the business to temporarily close.

Over 180K without power: 911 services, DIA affected

Denver Fire Department crews quickly extinguished the fire, but smoke continued to pour into the building, requiring firefighters to break in and cut into the walls and ceiling, co-owner Kara Admire said.

“They had to break in,” Admire said. “They started ripping into the walls and into the ceiling because smoke just kept coming even after they put the fire out.”…
