Man found dead after barricading himself in Brighton home

DENVER (KDVR) — A man was found dead in a Brighton home after a reported disturbance on Sunday night led to a shelter in place and shots being fired at officers.

The Brighton Police Department said it’s investigating a “domestic disturbance” after a 48-year-old man reportedly fired a weapon inside a home on Sunday, just after 8 p.m. in the area of Beldock Street and Chavez Street.

Police said officers tried to contact the suspect after he barricaded himself inside the home. The Commerce City–Brighton Combined SWAT Team and crisis negotiators responded and tried to communicate with him.

During this time, police said the man fired several shots at officers, but no officers were injured and officers did not return fire…
