Brighton House Party Erupts In Gunfire, Teen Guest Busted After Crash

A Brighton house party turned violent early Saturday when, according to police, a 19-year-old woman opened fire on people gathered in the front yard, injuring three. Officers say the shooter took off in a vehicle that later crashed, ejecting one person who was taken to a hospital. The suspect is now facing felony charges tied to both the gunfire and the wreck.

Police: Shots fired outside party, three people hit

Brighton police say the chaos started just before 12:30 a.m. near Bridge Street and South 8th Avenue, when a verbal argument moved outside, and a woman allegedly pulled a gun and fired several rounds into the front yard crowd. Three people were hit. Two women, described by officers as 23 and 24 years old, were reported in critical but stable condition. An 18-year-old man was treated and later released from medical care.

Investigators identified the suspected shooter as 19-year-old Casandra Rocha-Martinez. Police say she was arrested after crashing the vehicle she left in and was booked into the Adams County jail on attempted first-degree murder and vehicular assault counts, according to CBS Colorado.
