Lakewood Police cracking down on expired vehicle registration

LAKEWOOD, Colo. (KDVR) — The Lakewood Police Department put out an announcement about a crack down led by their traffic department that will be focused on expired vehicle registration, drivers licenses and insurance.

“I don’t think it’s any secret Colorado has a problem with registrations,” John Romero, a Public Information Officer Lakewood Police Department said.

Romero said LPD did this same enforcement last February and since they had so many people with expired tags they decided to do it again this year. He said back during COVID people had reasons to have expired tags, but that is no longer the case.

“We are doing this again because of the activity we saw last year last year when we ran this,” Romero said. “In February last year we had over 1,100 citations written, that was only in Lakewood.”…
