DENVER (KDVR) — The chief of police in the city of Golden announced his retirement earlier this week, following an unexpected leave of absence.
The city said Monday, Feb. 16, that Golden Police Department Chief Joe Harvey notified the city that he would be retiring from law enforcement and his role as chief of police. Harvey served as chief of police in Golden since 2023.

Harvey took an unexpected leave of absence in recent weeks, according to the city, which said in a January news release that Harvey would be stepping away from his role temporarily.
