DENVER (KDVR) — Five people were injured in a grass fire that broke out near a high school in Thornton on Wednesday afternoon. The fire also caused road closures and evacuations, which have since been lifted, according to Thornton police.
The Thornton Police Department said around 11 a.m. and 12 p.m., a fire broke out in the grassy area north of Pinnacle High School, and the strong winds in the area blew the fire east.
Number of red flag warning days persist
Thornton Fire Department Chief said in a news conference that five people suffered injuries in the fire, four of those injured are firefighters and one is a citizen.
