Colorado’s largest utility company said it is shutting down power to more than 21,000 customers along the Front Range on Saturday afternoon, anticipating high winds that create wildfire risk.
Xcel Energy said its Public Safety Power Shutoff — a strategy sanctioned by Colorado regulators — will begin around 2 p.m. and will impact 18,000 customers in Boulder County and about 3,400 in Jefferson County.
