Former Littleton bus aide on video hitting nonverbal student gets 4.5 years in prison

LITTLETON, Colo. — A judge on Wednesday sentenced a former bus aide to four and a half years in prison for hitting nonverbal students with special needs – attacks that came to light only after parents demanded answers.

“She turned violence into physical joy,” the mother of one of the victims said during the sentencing hearing for Kiarra Jones.

She and other parents who spoke urged District Judge Laqunya Latrese Baker-McKay to hand down the maximum sentence – seven years in prison…
