Community Food Giveaway On Skid Row

Luther Keith Jr., New World Academy Foundation, The GANG, and several other humanitarian groups and individuals came together on Friday morning, Juneteenth, to distribute tons of food to people experiencing homelessness on Skid Row. Thousands stood in line patiently to receive boxes and bags of fruits and vegetables, fresh meat, canned food, and a hot sandwich.

Luther Keith Jr has been leading this ministry to help the homeless and hungry for many years. He has made it his life’s mission. Because of his parents’ work in the church and local communities, he has continued to be inspired to help others by providing food, clothing, encouragement, and prayers for all he encounters. He not only provides for those in need, but he also inspires others to help and give to those less fortunate. Keith and his army of givers had over 13 pallets of food, which they distributed to the hardcore homeless on Skid Row, right there at 6th and Julian in downtown Los Angeles.

Having lived in the Los Angeles area since he was young, Luther Keith Jr. holds a special bond with and responsibility to his neighbors and fellow citizens, especially the homeless population.

After observing different children without jackets roaming the streets, several people living under the freeway who had not showered in months, and many others lacking proper care and attention, Luther went to a local youth home. He asked for materials to bring to these people personally.

There are also people, volunteers, philanthropists, locals, and even large non-profit organizations like Volunteers of America, that meet with Luther and donate supplies and funds to him.

Many of the locations he delivers to daily have varying numbers of homeless people occupying them at different times. Some of them have five to ten people, others have hundreds. The extra assistance, Luther notes, is greatly appreciated and needed.

Luther plans to continue his journey to reduce the prevalence of homelessness in Los Angeles by raising awareness, continuously assisting those with immediate needs by providing food and water, and referring others to shelters and other forms of help. He is a blessing to the community and a model of how we all should live…
