Heat Builds Across Southern California as Advisories Take Effect

LOS ANGELES – Heat is expected to build across Southern California this week, with inland areas facing several days of potentially dangerous temperatures and some communities pushing into the triple digits.

The National Weather Service said heat advisories will begin Tuesday morning for the Santa Clarita, San Fernando and San Gabriel valleys, the San Gabriel Mountains and the Antelope Valley (14) Freeway corridor. Those areas could see temperatures from the 90s to around 100 degrees.

The hottest stretch is expected Wednesday and Thursday, with only a slight cooldown Friday, according to the weather service. Temperatures are expected to ease more over the weekend but remain above normal into next week…
