A possibly armed DUI suspect is in custody after a dangerous high-speed chase through Los Angeles and into the San Fernando Valley Thursday night.
It’s unclear what brought the driver, who appeared to be behind the wheel of a BMW on the northbound 101 Freeway, to law enforcement’s attention, but preliminary reports suggest he failed to yield to officers attempting to make a traffic stop on Alvarado Boulevard.
Once the suspect got onto the freeway and hit speeds of nearly 100 mph, police dropped back, leaving LAPD’s helicopter to track the driver. Police also requested assistance from the California Highway Patrol while the chase was on the freeway.
