Wealthy Ex-Ticketmaster CEO Is Trying to Block LA Subway Through Bel-Air: ‘They Don’t Understand Who They’re Dealing With’

Fred Rosen made many enemies during his tenure at the oft-maligned company — and he’s not afraid of making more

The former CEO of Ticketmaster made many enemies during his tenure at the oft-maligned company. Now in his eighties, Fred Rosen has set his sights on a new battle – blocking Los Angeles County from constructing a subway through his wealthy Bel-Air neighborhood.

“You have to come to grips with the fact that not everyone’s going to like you,” he told the Hollywood Reporter of the dispute with the Los Angeles County Public Transit authority (usually referred to as Metro.)

No official decision has been made to dig subway tunnels under Rosen’s neighborhood.

Metro is deliberating between six plans – three requiring a monorail and three requiring a subway.

Bel-Air residents, led by Rosen, believe that constructing a subway could make their neighborhood less desirable — claiming it would create loud noise, disruptive traffic and other issues.

“[Metro] doesn’t know how many people would even use this subway. What is known is what you can see from the news: It’s a harbor for crime,” Bel-Air resident Margie Perenchio told the Hollywood Reporter.
