In the aftermath of the powerful winter storm battering Southern California, the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department has issued a warning to residents and commuters, indicating that all canyon roads connecting to and from Malibu are grappling with severe rock and mud slides.
As of now, Malibu Canyon Road, a vital artery in the region, is shut down between Malibu Crest and Mulholland Highway due to the hazardous conditions brought about by the ongoing storm. The closure is a precautionary measure aimed at ensuring public safety, as rock and mudslides pose significant risks to motorists and residents.
Authorities strongly advise against using alternative routes such as Kanan Dume Road and Topanga Canyon, as these areas are also experiencing adverse weather-related conditions, including falling debris and unstable road surfaces. Traveling through these routes is deemed inadvisable until the storm subsides, and road crews can adequately address the aftermath.
