At the current time, the atmospheric river is hitting Los Angeles, Orange, and the Inland Empire zones. This will not affect San Diego until this evening, peaking Tuesday morning for the heaviest rain.
So, if you are in San Diego, you will eventually get it, patience is a virtue.
As the system starts digging south and eastward, colder air aloft will begin to move in. Tuesday and Tuesday night should be where we see the best chance of thunderstorm development across the red-shaded areas in the article image.
Southern California Weather Force is maintaining the Flood Watch across the Los Angeles, Orange, Inland Empire, and San Diego County zones through at least Wednesday morning.
Additional Thunderstorm Alerts will be issued tomorrow if needed, but again, tomorrow (Tuesday) awards the best chance of thunderstorms.
