Days of rain, snow, possible flooding forecast for parts of Southern California in latest forecast

As a substantial weather system approaches Southern California, the National Weather Service’s latest forecast brings a complex scenario of rain and potential flooding across the region.

The current weather pattern indicates the presence of a large trough in the northeast Pacific and Northern California, generating high clouds over Southern California.

The initial wave of precipitation associated with this trough is expected to remain in Northern California through the weekend.

Meanwhile, a weak area of high pressure will persist across the Desert Southwest, leading to a shallow marine layer and relatively warmer temperatures on Saturday.

The high desert areas can anticipate temperatures in the upper 60s, while Palm Springs might experience highs in the upper 70s. The increasing onshore flow will contribute to rising winds along the desert slopes.

The trough is forecasted to intensify, creating a more potent low-pressure system that will approach Southern California by Sunday. Precipitation is likely to commence in areas north of San Diego County on Sunday evening and overnight.
