CHP in pursuit of speeding driver in Southern California

Officers with the California Highway Patrol are in pursuit of a driver on the northbound 605 Freeway.

The chase reportedly started when police broke up a street takeover. The driver has been clocked at speeds of 150 miles per hour, splitting lanes in traffic and blacking out the headlights.

CHP patrol cruisers are working to catch up to the suspect, while they track the driver from the air.

Before patrol units could get behind the suspect, the driver took the 22 Freeway into Long Beach and continued on as it turned into East 7th Street. The suspect took a right onto Havana Avenue and it appears that law enforcement have lost sight of the vehicle.

As police searched the area, they found two suspects sitting inside the vehicle. Both were taken into custody.
