Doctor Pleads Guilty in Connection with Matthew Perry’s Overdose Death

In a significant development in the case surrounding the tragic death of Friends star Matthew Perry, Dr. Mark Chavez has pleaded guilty to supplying ketamine illegally. This plea comes as part of a broader investigation into the circumstances leading to the actor’s accidental overdose last year.

A Complex Network of Distribution

Perry, known for his iconic role as Chandler Bing, passed away from a ketamine overdose, which prompted law enforcement to probe a “broad underground criminal network” involved in the distribution of the drug. The case includes charges against two doctors and Perry’s personal aide, all linked to providing large quantities of ketamine to the actor and others.

During a recent court appearance at the U.S. District Court in Los Angeles, Dr. Chavez entered his guilty plea and faces a potential sentence of up to ten years in prison. Another doctor involved, Dr. Salvador Plasencia, along with co-defendant Jasveen Sangha—described by authorities as a “ketamine queen”—have both pleaded not guilty, with their trial scheduled for March.
