It was a scary scene on Saturday at West High School in Torrance, when a vehicle crashed into a fence and landed on the track as children played on a nearby field.
The crash occurred at about 2 p.m. Saturday after the driver of a blue Jeep SUV lost control in the area of Entradero Avenue and Del Amo Boulevard, according to stringer service Traffic News LA.
Video obtained by KTLA from a surveillance camera outside a nearby home showed the SUV speeding down Entradero at a high rate of speed, followed by a loud crashing sound.
The SUV then crashed into a fence, went airborne, and landed on the track near the football field of West High School, where a youth soccer game was taking place. Witnesses told TNLA that the car then caught on fire.
Luckily, no bystanders were injured. The driver was transported to a local hospital via ambulance, though his current status is not known. He was detained by police, though it’s not clear if he was arrested.
