An armed suspect who police say is a prohibited possessor and legally barred from owning or possessing firearms was arrested in Long Beach and an investigation is underway Thursday.
Long Beach Police Department officers conducted a pedestrian stop near Cedar Avenue and Anaheim Street at around 12:23 a.m. Wednesday. The suspect ran away, but officers arrested him, the police department said.
During their investigation, officers recovered a firearm and determined the suspect to be a prohibited possessor– anyone legally barred from owning or possessing firearms, typically due to a felony conviction, mental health reasons, anyone subject to certain court orders related to domestic violence, those addicted to or who unlawfully use controlled substances or other factors as defined by state and federal laws…
