New Calif. coyote study ‘went against everything that we’ve learned’

Coyotes are seemingly omnipresent in Los Angeles.

In the westside neighborhood of Mar Vista, residents say coyote sightings are becoming more frequent — and that they seem to be getting more aggressive. In February, a coyote was spotted in the center of campus at the University of Southern California, the first sighting at the college in recent years. One coyote crashed a community holiday parade in the northeast neighborhood of Highland Park; another reportedly chased a woman down the street in Leimert Park, a flatland neighborhood deep in the middle of the city.

“We don’t live in Idyllwild. We don’t live in a canyon,” one Leimert Park resident told KNBC-TV , seemingly incredulous about the canine’s presence in the neighborhood…
