13-Year-Old Found Dead in California, Soccer Coach a Person of Interest

A 13-year-old boy, Oscar Omar Hernandez, was found dead in a ditch in Oxnard, California, on Wednesday. According to his family, Oscar was last seen with his soccer coach, who is now a person of interest in the case. Oscar, a resident of the San Fernando Valley, was reported missing on March 30 after failing to return home from Lancaster.

The discovery of Oscar’s body has shocked the community. His family moved from Honduras to the United States three years ago, seeking a better life. Oscar was a seventh-grade student at Sun Valley Magnet School and a standout soccer player. His sister, Alejandra Hernandez, expressed disbelief, telling KTLA , “We had that person at our home. He even helped us look for Oscar. We never thought he would harm him.”

The Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) and the FBI are investigating the case. The LAPD’s Deputy Chief Alan Hamilton told NBC stated, “This is always a tragedy when we find someone of this age that is deceased.
