Southwest Airlines Shakes Up Routes in Burbank, Long Beach, Nashville in Route Network Changes

Southwest Airlines is reshaping its network with new routes and major cuts across several U.S. cities. The Dallas-based carrier will launch service from Nashville International Airport (BNA) to both Dulles International Airport (IAD) near Washington, D.C., and El Paso International Airport (ELP) during the Thanksgiving travel rush. According to The Points Guy, these could become permanent based on demand.

Southwest will also restart flights between Los Angeles (LAX) and Oklahoma City, last seen in 2018, as well as routes like San Diego to Omaha and Chicago Midway to Tampa.

However, California sees losses: the airline is pulling out of Burbank–New Orleans and Long Beach–El Paso, among others. These permanent cuts mark a significant shift for the West Coast.
