Police violence against ICE protesters and journalists could cost LA $100M in settlements

Videos circulating online show law enforcement using foam bullets, tear gas and horses to disperse journalists and anti-ICE protesters in Los Angeles. The use of force will undoubtedly lead to expensive litigation and legal settlements — but how much will that cost the city, exactly?

Since federal immigration enforcement agencies launched enforcement operations in LA on June 6, people have protested daily across LA County, outside LA City Hall and federal buildings, and in front of an ICE detention facility in downtown LA.
