Long Beach to celebrate reopening of Martin Luther King Jr. Park Pool

The City of Long Beach will hold a community celebration for the reopening of the Martin Luther King Jr. Park Pool on Monday, June 23. The event begins at 11 a.m. at the park’s pool facility, located at 1910 Lemon Ave.

The ceremony will include remarks from Mayor Rex Richardson, Sixth District Councilmember Dr. Suely Saro and other city officials, followed by a ribbon-cutting. Recreational swim will be available from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m., after scheduled swim lessons.

The upgraded facility now includes a range of improvements aimed at increasing accessibility and enhancing the user experience. Updates include new plumbing and repairs to the locker rooms, refreshed interiors, new paint and upgraded doors and windows. Pool deck surfaces were refinished, and the pools received new plaster, tile depth markers and improved lighting.
