Long Beach man gets 300+ years for slaying teen, shooting at 4 others

A Long Beach man was sentenced to centuries in prison on Thursday for murdering a 17-year-old high school senior and trying to shoot four other teens weeks later.

Troy Lamar Fox, 34, was sentenced to 358 years to life in prison for killing Briana Soto “just steps from her Long Beach home in March 2024,” as well as an April 9, 2024, shooting in which he “opened fire on a car carrying four minors,” the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office said in a news release.

Soto was fatally shot the night of March 6, 2024, while walking home from her job at McDonald’s.
