Los Angeles, California – A tow truck driver from South Los Angeles has been arrested on federal charges after allegedly interfering with an immigration arrest and hauling away a government vehicle in the middle of the operation.
According to federal prosecutors, 33-year-old Bobby Nunez faces one count of theft of government property. He was taken into custody Tuesday and is expected to make his first court appearance this afternoon in Los Angeles.
The complaint, supported by an affidavit filed by investigators, outlines a chaotic scene in downtown Los Angeles on August 15. Federal officers had been tracking 23-year-old Tatiana Mafla-Martinez, a Colombian national accused of living in the U.S. illegally.
