Stolen pickup truck suspect in custody after fiery CHP pursuit

A man is in custody after a fiery pursuit across Southern California freeways Tuesday night.

The suspect, behind the wheel of an allegedly dark-colored GMC pickup truck, was in southbound lanes of the 14 Freeway about a half hour after the chase was initiated.

At least four California Highway patrol cruisers were tailing the suspect, whose front passenger tire was missing, at speeds of 50 to 60 miles per hour.

The suspect was clocked at speeds of nearly 100 miles per hours on the 14 Freeway before transitioning to the 5 Freeway, where the disabled truck began giving away, the bare rim meeting the pavement and shooting a steady stream of sparks from beneath the vehicle…
