SWAT Team Defuses Standoff in Long Beach; Suspect Charged with Domestic Violence and Other Offenses

Last night in Long Beach, SWAT resources were deployed after a domestic violence call escalated into a standoff on Magnolia Avenue. According to the Long Beach Police Department’s report, at around 10:34 p.m., officers responded to the 400 block, where they found a female victim. The Long Beach Fire Department treated her for non-life-threatening injuries at the scene.

The situation quickly became tense as the male suspect, later identified as 26-year-old Long Beach resident Luis Angel Del Valle, had barricaded himself inside the residence, allegedly armed. The initial attempts by officers to encourage Del Valle’s surrender were unsuccessful, prompting the intervention of the SWAT team. The ordeal ended peacefully after roughly two hours when Del Valle exited the apartment and was apprehended without further incident.

Following the arrest, “two firearms were recovered,” according to the Long Beach Police Department. Del Valle is now facing several charges, including false imprisonment, felony domestic violence, and obstructing/resisting a peace officer. His bail was set at $50,000, and he awaits further processing at the Long Beach City Jail…
