Los Angeles County law enforcement departments have upped their security near Jewish places of worship and Hanukkah events in the wake of a shooting that left more than a dozen people dead at a beach in Australia.
Australian authorities said that a 50-year-old man and his 24-year-old son opened fire at Bondi Beach, a suburb near Sydney, while the local Jewish community was celebrating the first night of Hanukkah. The shooting left 15 people dead and nearly 40 others injured.
