Illegal immigrant sentenced for Molotov cocktail attack during Paramount riot

LOS ANGELES, California — A 23-year-old man from Paramount has been sentenced to 48 months in federal prison for throwing a Molotov cocktail at law enforcement during an anti-immigration enforcement riot last year. Emiliano Garduño Gálvez pleaded guilty to charges including possession of an unregistered destructive device and obstructing law enforcement during a civil disorder.

Gálvez has been in federal custody since June 2025, according to a press release from the United States Attorney’s Office. The incident occurred on June 7, 2025, during a protest against federal immigration enforcement in Los Angeles County. The protest escalated into a civil disorder, with demonstrators throwing objects and setting off fireworks at law enforcement, leading to the declaration of an unlawful assembly.
