Hood blocks car thief’s view in wild L.A. River pursuit

A suspected car thief led Los Angeles County sheriff’s deputies on a chaotic pursuit early Friday, driving with the car’s hood flipped up and blocking the windshield before crashing inside the L.A. River wash and attempting to run, authorities said.

Deputies initiated the chase around 2 a.m. in the Compton area after spotting a stolen vehicle, officials said. It was not immediately clear where the pursuit began.
