A disagreement over a bill led to a mass stabbing at the Zaya restaurant in downtown Los Angeles

A brawl over who should pay for brunch turned into a terrifying slashing incident that rocked an upscale downtown Los Angeles restaurant, Zaya, on Sunday evening.

The Incident

Around 5 p.m., an all-female group of diners at Zaya, an Italian eatery known for its “dinner and a show” experience, began arguing over who would foot the bill. The argument quickly escalated, with one woman suddenly brandishing a knife and another grabbing a bottle.

Witnesses described the chaotic scene as the women began slashing at each other, prompting patrons to call the police and Los Angeles Fire Department (LAFD) for assistance.

Arrests and Injuries

Two women were arrested and charged with assault with a deadly weapon, according to police. One victim, who suffered cuts to her face, refused medical treatment and left the restaurant on her own.

Four other individuals, aged 26 to 37, were taken to the hospital for treatment. The restaurant, which markets itself as a romantic lounge-style venue with live music, posted an Instagram Story thanking law enforcement and emergency personnel for their swift response
