Philippe the Original, the landmark deli famous for its French-dip sandwiches and sawdust-covered floors, says the sawdust is coming up after more than a century as part of the restaurant’s look. The family-run spot is framing the move as a necessary step after talks with its insurance provider about updated safety and liability standards.
