Pre-Dawn 101 Horror Near Hollywood Leaves Man in His 40s Dead

A man in his 40s walking along the northbound Hollywood (101) Freeway was struck and killed early Thursday near Hollywood, turning a quiet pre-dawn stretch of roadway into a fatal scene. California Highway Patrol officers were called at approximately 12:42 a.m. to the northbound 101 at the Gower Street on-ramp, where they found the pedestrian lying in the number four lane. He was pronounced dead at the scene, and authorities have withheld his name pending positive identification and notification of next of kin.

According to MyNewsLA, a CHP spokesman told City News Service that officers discovered the pedestrian in the number four lane and confirmed he died at the scene. The Los Angeles County medical examiner’s office told MyNewsLA the victim was a man in his 40s, and investigators have said the cause of the collision remains under review.
