PACIFIC PALISADES – Bills for brush clearance violations sent to Pacific Palisades fire victims will be rescinded after the Los Angeles City Council voted unanimously Friday to cancel notices issued to residents whose properties were damaged or destroyed in the January 2025 fire.
The $31 bills were issued by the Los Angeles Fire Department in February for alleged noncompliance with brush clearance rules. Residents who did not pay before a March deadline faced steeper fees – even though many of the properties were vacant lots with no structures or vegetation of concern, according to the council motion.
“While these notices are issued by an automated system, it is unacceptable to send these notices to Palisades fire victims. The majority of these lots are vacant, and have no structures or vegetation of concern,” the motion states…
