Investigative team says they know who killed the Black Dahlia

(NewsNation) — A team of retired law enforcement officials, forensic experts and filmmakers claim they have uncovered new information about the 1947 murder of Elizabeth Short, known as the Black Dahlia.

After a nearly five-year investigation, the group says it has identified a primary suspect, located what it believes to be the true crime scene and reviewed files that neither the press nor law enforcement has ever seen.

“Deconstructing Dahlia” director Jeff Thomas and producer Kimberly Lupini joined “Jesse Weber Live” where they explained they have access to documents “never seen by the press or police” that could crack a nearly 80-year-old case.

Building a case from the ground up

Short was 22 years old when her body was found in a vacant Los Angeles lot in January 1947. The killing became one of the most sensational unsolved murders in American history.

The team says the original investigation went cold for roughly 50 years, records were lost or purged, and forensic tools available today did not exist at the time.
