An evening car meetup in the Los Angeles River basin nearly replicated a Fast and Furious scene when the LAPD and accompanying agencies swarmed the Cypress Park riverbed on Sunday (June 7). It was during the incident that 72 vehicles were impounded and 86 people were taken into custody.
According to reports, the event had been advertised online as a community photo opportunity for the local car scene, drawing roughly 100 vehicles. Among souped-up vehicles that were present at the site were Chevrolet Camaros, Dodge Chargers, and Ford Mustangs at the riverbed near the 400 block of North San Fernando Road. Per CBS News, aerial footage captured around 7:20 p.m. showed the assembly of sports cars lined up along the concrete channel, which can be seen in the video below.
